"BEST EFFORTS" wins 5 International Awards

After its world premiere at NFFTY 2015 (National Film Festival for Talented Youth), BEST EFFORTS was recently accepted to Four River Film Festival 2015 in Karlovac, Croatia, CineYouth 2015 presented by the Chicago International Film Festival and the Great Worqs Short Film Competition (Spring 2015). 

The film was awarded four awards at the Four River Film Festival: Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Fiction Film and the Audience Award for the festival. Hadley able to attend the festival once again this year and was there to receive the awards. 

BEST EFFORTS also won the Best Comedy Award at CineYouth 2015. In addition, the film was chosen as the sole winner of the Great Worqs Short Film Competition (Spring 2015) based out of London, England, marking the fifth international award for the film.

The Great Worqs Short Film Competition uses the Great Worqs website, a platform created to "connect creatives for free and allow them to showcase their content easily", to showcase the chosen short films. Renowned screenwriter Dean Craig, writer of both the British and American version of Death at a Funeral, was the judge at this year's festival and chose BEST EFFORTS as the winning film. Hadley also received 
a cash prize of £100 to put towards his next film.

Hadley's dark comedy short films, The Talk and MUFFINS, each received an award this year at the Four River Film Festival in Karlovac, Croatia (June 17-23). The Talk won the Best Fiction Film award and MUFFINS won the youth jury award for Best Editing. Hadley was able to be at the festival to receive the award and met many of the other filmmakers in attendance, who had come from more than 30 countries to be a part of the week long festival.

"The Talk" wins Best of Festival and Best Live Action Film awards at Santa Monica Teen Film Festival

Hadley's 2013 dark comedy short film, The Talk,  was awarded both the Best Live Action Film and Best of Festival awards at the Santa Monica Teen Film Festival 2014. The festival allows student filmmakers between the ages of 12 and 18 years to submit their films and awards are given to categories ranging from audience choice award to jury award.

Along with the award, Hadley was given $550 worth of Amazon gift cards and a full scholarship to the Relativity Media School of Film, Media and Performing Arts 3-Week Summer intensive worth over $3800.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Santa Monica Teen Film Festival is an interdepartmental initiative between the Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division, The Santa Monica Public Library, The Virginia Avenue Park Teen Center and City TV. Its purpose is to provide an outlet for and to showcase the creative talents of teen filmmakers and to encourage youth to use the art of filmmaking as a form of creative expression and commentary on the world in which they live.

"MUFFINS" World Premieres at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth 2014

Hadley's most recent short film, MUFFINS, had its world premiere at NFFTY on April 27th in the Northwest Life screening, a category showing  a collection of films from young filmmakers in the Pacific Northwest. The film was received well and will now be submitted to other national and international film festivals.

Hadley's 2013 dark comedy short film, The Talk, has been chosen as an official selection of the Phoenix Film Festival 2014, The Sun Valley Film Festival 2014, The Milwaukie Film Festival 2014, and the Black Dog Film Fest 2014. The film will be showing in the High School Shorts Category of the Phoenix Film Festival on both Friday, April 4th and Saturday, April 5th and in the Milwaukie Film Festival on May 10th.

The Talk showed in the Future Filmmakers Forum category of the Sun Valley Film Festival from March 13-16th and the Black Dog Film Fest on the March 13th.

Hadley wins Nationwide Filmmaking "On Your Way" Student Scholarship Award

Hadley won the "On Your Way" Student Talent Scholarship in the Filmmaking category this week. The On Your Way program is run by the Arts Schools Network, a network of arts leaders, schools, and organizations from all over the world. The categories for submission include acting, filmmaking, musical theatre, dance, visual arts, classical voice, and creative writing. One winner is chosen for each discipline.

Winners of the award:
• Receive scholarships (minimum of $500)
• Are featured in Arts School Network website and communications
• Are invited to attend the annual youth arts conference in NYC (either in person or virtually)
• Meet reps from member colleges and conservatories

On Your Way winners also automatically bypass the preliminary round in the national Young Arts program adjudication and are given access to Young Arts online portal for portfolio submission.

Hadley's dark comedy short film, "The Talk", won the award for Best Grade 1-12 Student Film at the 2nd Annual Mt. Hood Independent Film Festival 2013. The film was shown in the Best of Festival screening after the award ceremony on November 10th, 2013.

Hadley's 2013  short film "The Talk" and the screenplay for his upcoming dark comedy short, "MUFFINS", won Best of Fest at the Future of Cinema Film Festival. The festival took place at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, an arts focused high school in northwest Michigan. 

As the winner of Best of Fest, Hadley will receive:
-half-tuition scholarship to Interlochen Arts Academy for the 2014-15 school year
-half-tuition scholarship to Interlochen Arts Camp 
-a $1250 Apple Gift Card
